PUBLIC DATA. ONE SIMPLE LOOKUP.WHOIS is the traditional way to find out who a domain is registered with. Registries are replacing it with RDAP, which returns the same registration data in a structured, more reliable format. WhoHostsIt reads the RDAP record directly from the domain’s registry.
Since GDPR, most registrars hide the owner’s name, email, and address. You’ll still see the registrar, key dates, status codes, and nameservers, plus the registrar’s abuse contact for reporting problems.
If the owner chose to publish their details, they appear in the Registration section. Most personal details are now redacted for privacy; to reach the owner, use the registrar’s contact form or abuse address.
They are locks set by the registrar or registry. clientTransferProhibited stops the domain being moved to another registrar until the owner unlocks it, which protects against theft. redemptionPeriod and pendingDelete mean the domain has expired.
Some country-code registries, such as .de and .io, don’t offer a public RDAP lookup. For those, use the registry’s own WHOIS website.
